Alessi – Joy No.1 Centrepiece

Alessi about as cutting edge as homewares get, creating everything from toothpick holders to coffee plungers, fruit bowls and pepper mills and everything in between. Chances are, if it’s colourful or shiny or whimsical, it was borne of an Alessi mind.

Like a thousand clustered diamonds, the Joy n. 1 Centrepiece plays with reflections that hypnotise and astound in their appearance. Designer Claudia Raimondo has worked a sheet of steel through a sophisticated and contemporary moulding technique, before finishing with a brilliant mirror polished surface that throws light to a fro. The texture evokes the backgrounds of the digital world and reinterprets stainless steel by playing on the elusiveness of the design, which makes the unique centrepiece look like something smooth and natural even if it crystallised into a solid matter.

Almost crystallised, and definitely fascinating, the Joy n. 1 Centrepiece invites possibility and – true to its name – joy.
